Grogu, often referred to as "The Child" or colloquially as "Baby Yoda," is a fictional character from the Star Wars Disney+ TV Show The Mandalorian. He first appeared in the show's premiere episode, "Chapter , The Mandalorian," which was released in .
Grogu is a Force-sensitive being of the same species as Yoda, although little is known about their species or homeworld. He is approximately years old during the events of The Mandalorian, but his species ages very slowly.
Due to his Force abilities and vulnerability, Grogu is pursued by remnants of the fallen Galactic Empire. He develops a strong bond with the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, who becomes his protector and surrogate father. Throughout the series, Din Djarin strives to protect Grogu and ultimately reunite him with others of his kind, the Jedi.
